Minutes of the Public Open Forum Held at the Trowell Parish Hall on Tuesday 11th May 2010, at 7.15pm.

Present - Cllrs. Mrs. M. Birkitt (Chairman), K. Birkitt, G. Lockwood, Mrs. J.E. Bryant, W. J. Bryant, Mrs. C. McGann, R. McGann, Mrs. L. Harley, S. Hallam, K.E. Rigby & Mrs. P. Cardwell.

Clerk - Mrs. A. K. Mitchell

Cllr. Mrs. Birkitt opened the meeting & thanked everyone for their attendance.

The Clerk asked Members to consider a series of questions submitted by email by Mr. Jackson of Stapleford Road.

It was noted that a copy of the questions had been circulated to Members prior to the meeting for information.

In respect of the Aligned Core Strategy, Cllr. Rigby advised that the M1 has been used as a rough rule of thumb with anything lying to the east falling in the PUA & anything to the west non PUA. He added that it is incorrect however to say that this means that all the land up to the motorway will be developed in the future although the SUE could fall within the PUA. It was noted again that all three Trowell sites are located in the greenbelt.

A general discussion then took place regarding the content of the email the main points being as follows:

Concern was expressed about Mr. Jackson questioning Members' integrity in this way. It was pointed out that Councillor's conduct is already regulated by The Standards Board & that the Parish Council's responses to the Aligned Core Strategy are already a matter of public record.

Members were unsure if Mr. Jackson is raising these concerns personally or on behalf of STRAG.

It was agreed that the Council should respond openly to Mr. Jackson's concerns.

It was noted that the Council makes decisions on behalf of the Council & some people will from time to time get upset & express themselves in different ways. .

Members agreed that it was a pity that the parishioner had been unable to attend the meeting in person.

Members agreed to respond to the email in the following way:

1. Yes.
2. No. Minutes are a matter of public record.
3. This is regulated by the national code of conduct.

Regional Core Strategy - The parish council's responses to date are already a matter of public record.

As no further issues were forthcoming for discussion, Cllr. Mrs. Birkitt closed the Open Forum & thanked everyone for their contributions.
